There are very few things that I get nerdy about and New York hardcore music is one of them. If I tried to get into the reasons why, we’d be here until 2016 but I can assure you that my levels of “stan” reach, if not exceed, shameless. I wasn’t there but I love it and I love the people that I’ve come to know because of it. Well some of them any way….
I just peeped this video on Buske’s website and had to share. Mike Dijan, IMHO, is an NYHC demigod whose curriculum vitae includes Breakdown and Crown Of Thornz. He describes himself as a “Cro Mags advocate” (omg, same!) and encourages young people to “go out and do sh*t. Get dirty, play in the streets”.
Need I continue?
***Shout out to Buske for sharing and to Stone Films NYC for The New York Hardcore Chronicles series. If you scroll through their Youtube channel, there are interviews from other NYHC pioneers including Hoya Roc (Madball, DMize), Lord Ezec (Crown of Thornz, Skarhead, Danny Diablo) and Craig Setari (Straight Ahead, Cro-Mags and Sick Of It All). Make sure you like The New York Hardcore Chronicles facebook page to see other cool relics of NYHC***
